About the Trillium Wind Quintet
The members of Trillum are deeply connected to the Great Lakes’ artistic scene, and associated with prominent performing ensembles, including Flint, Saginaw Bay, Midland, Jackson, Oakland, West Michigan, and Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestras. They have been sharing their knowledge in various music institutions across the state, including Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan State University, and Central Michigan University, as well as serving clinicians and guest instructors in pubic schools throughout the state.
In the 2025-2026 Concert season, the quintet will be featured in established chamber music series across Michigan, including the Rhea Miller Concert Series. Committed to core wind quintet repertoire and contemporary works, Trillium is also commissioning news works for the upcoming performances.
The group advocates for chamber music as a vital force in shaping young musicians and enriching community life. In February 2026, Trillium was the inaugural group for Saginaw Valley State University Chamber Music Day”, a new mentorship event that offered coaching, side-by-side performance opportunities, and chamber music workshops for music students. Their advocacy efforts also extend to community accessibility, offering performances and residencies, ensuring that chamber music is not reserved for the concert hall but integrated into the fabric of every day life.
The ensemble’s name draws inspiration from the Michigan-protected Trillium flower: a symbol of resilience, elegance, and regional identity. Each petal represents Trillium’s core values as a quintet: togetherness, authenticity, and intention.
